Management Strategies

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) supports a progressive approach to medication use in treating T2D. The method involves a personalized program based on HbA1c goals and other potential comorbidities related to metabolic health. Additionally, the ADA stresses having HbA1c levels below 6.5% (Thrasher, 2017). Uncontrolled T2D occurs when HbA1c levels are above 6.5% and close to 9%; controlled T2D is when HbA1C levels are below 6.5% (Radha & Selvam, 2016). Alternative therapies have also been used to manage T2D, such as dietary supplementation of berberine (Sheikhrabori et al., 2017). Click on a blog post below to learn about the benefits of berberine paired with medication.
